Through all the world there goes one long cry from the heart of the artist:
Give me leave to do my utmost
.”
Isak Dinesen, ‘Babette’s Feast’

Vesna MilinkovicAn ‘undercover artist’ for many years, like some clandestine alchemist surreptitiously conjuring gold from lead, I’ve had my moments. It took several years before I could show my work to anyone. I have witnessed my painting go through similar growing pains and transformations that I continue to experience, and acknowledge that this is the way of it.

To my mind, and more importantly, my heart, abstract art is dialogue with the soul; it speaks with passion, with truth, with love. With one glance, a work of art has the power to rock the core of one’s being. Why? Because it is the gold delivered from one soul to another, a most profound exchange.

The act of painting is an expression of freedom, like a bird in flight, the heart is allowed to soar above the treetops and glide across the sky’s canvas. With brush in hand, the soul wrestles body from mind, and so inspiration begins.

Why do I paint?

Freedom.

While our world is in transition, I remain aware and grateful of my relative position of freedom with every breath. Each painting moves ever closer to my ultimate expression of both freedom and love. In life, I have more questions than answers, and aim to resolve these questions through my practice, which has survived different cities, jobs, even relationships, and is alive and kicking in the heart of London.

Abstract art is my passion; I offer you an exchange from the very depths of my soul.
